Mr. Lok Choon Hong from Pintas IP Group was invited as a speaker at Connect @ IP Grow Chongqing, an event jointly organised by Chongqing IP Office and IPOS, held at King World Hotel Chongqing.
The session gathered more than 100 participants, including innovators, enterprises, industry professionals, and key stakeholders, fostering in depth discussions on intellectual property, innovation, and cross border commercialisation.
The main focus of Mr. Lok’s sharing was on IP enforcement strategy in ASEAN, with practical case studies illustrating how enforcement frameworks operate across different jurisdictions in Southeast Asia. He highlighted the real challenges businesses face when protecting intellectual property across multiple ASEAN countries, where legal systems, enforcement speed, evidentiary requirements, and administrative processes may differ significantly.
Through selected case studies, he explained how companies can respond to infringement risks through a combination of early IP registration, strategic monitoring, coordinated enforcement actions, and working with local counsel to ensure effective cross border protection. He also emphasised how enforcement outcomes are often strengthened when businesses adopt a proactive rather than reactive IP strategy.
Platforms like Connect @ IP Grow Chongqing continue to strengthen collaboration between China and ASEAN, reinforcing how intellectual property enforcement is not only a legal mechanism but also a strategic business tool for sustainable growth and cross border value creation.
